Frequently Asked Questions
This page answers the questions we hear most often from property agents, business owners
and homeowners in Sheffield who are considering drone photography or video for the first
time. If your question is not covered here, contact us directly and we will reply within
1 hour during business hours.
Before You Book
Most people contact us because they need images that a phone camera or a standard
ground-level shoot cannot deliver: a full view of a property boundary, a roofline, or
the scale of a commercial site. We have completed 4954 jobs since 2010, working across
5 areas around Sheffield, so we are used to explaining the process to first-time
clients. The sections below cover legal questions, pricing, weather and delivery
timelines in detail.
Legal and Safety
Drone operation in the UK is regulated by the Civil Aviation Authority, and every flight
we carry out follows those rules, including height limits, distance from people and
restrictions near airports. Sheffield has areas close to controlled airspace, so we
check flight restrictions for each address before confirming a booking. We carry public
liability insurance appropriate to commercial drone work, and we can share flight
authorisation details with clients who need them for their own compliance records.
Pricing and Scheduling
Pricing depends on property size, the number of angles required and whether video
editing is included. We reply to new enquiries within 1 hour on average during business
hours, and most shoots are scheduled within a week, weather allowing. Of the 3520
clients we have worked with, 928 have booked us for a second project, often for a
different property or a seasonal update of the same site.
What You Receive
Deliverables typically include edited still photographs in high resolution and, where
requested, a short video sequence suitable for property listings or business marketing.
Files are supplied digitally, ready for upload to listing platforms, websites or social
channels. We offer 12 distinct services in total, from single-property photography to
ongoing coverage for construction or business sites, so packages can be adjusted to the
scope of the project.
As the property owner, you do not need your own CAA permission for someone else to
fly over your land. The responsibility for holding the correct operator authorisation
sits with us as the drone operator, not with the client commissioning the work. We
confirm airspace restrictions for your specific address before the shoot and adjust
the flight plan if the property sits near a controlled zone, which does happen in
parts of Sheffield close to the airport approach paths.
A standard residential property shoot takes between 45 minutes and an hour on site,
covering exterior angles, garden or land, and any nearby features worth including.
Larger commercial sites or multi-building plots can take two to three hours,
depending on the number of separate structures and the coverage requested. We factor
in time for battery changes and a short weather check before the flight begins, so
the quoted time includes setup, not just flying time.
Drones cannot fly safely in strong wind, heavy rain or poor visibility, and image
quality suffers under flat, overcast light even when flying is technically possible.
If conditions look unsuitable, we contact you the day before or early on the morning
of the shoot to reschedule, usually within the same week. There is no charge for a
weather-related reschedule. Sheffield's weather changes quickly, so we build a small
buffer into our scheduling to accommodate this.
Yes. Commercial and industrial sites are one of our regular jobs, particularly for
businesses that want to show scale, layout or site progress that ground photography
cannot capture in a single frame. This includes warehouses, retail parks, office
campuses and construction sites across the areas we cover around Sheffield. For
ongoing projects, such as a multi-month construction build, we can schedule repeat
flights to document progress at agreed intervals.
Edited still photographs are usually delivered within 2 to 3 working days of the
shoot. Video projects that require more detailed editing, colour grading or added
text overlays typically take 4 to 6 working days. If you have a listing deadline or
an event date, let us know when booking and we will confirm whether a faster turnaround
is possible before the shoot is scheduled.
Yes, several of our 12 services combine aerial coverage with standard interior and
ground-level photography, so a property listing or business profile can include both
wide exterior views and detailed interior shots in one package. This is popular with
estate agents who want a single consistent set of images for a listing rather than
commissioning two separate photographers.
We currently operate across 5 areas in and around Sheffield, covering both the city
centre and surrounding districts. If your property or business site sits just
outside our usual coverage, contact us directly with the postcode and we will
confirm whether a visit is possible, and whether any travel adjustment applies to
the quote.
The fastest way is to fill in the request form on our contact page with the property
or site address, the type of work you need, and any deadline you are working to. We
reply to most enquiries within 1 hour during business hours: Monday to Friday
10:00-18:30 and Saturday 09:30-16:00. You can also call or email us directly if you
prefer to discuss the details before submitting a request.
